What is Arrow Puzzle Club?
Arrow Puzzle Club is a tap-to-clear logic puzzle. The board is packed with arrows, each one a line that bends around the grid and ends in an arrowhead. Tap an arrow and it slides out in the direction its head points, but only if nothing stands in its way. The puzzle is reading a crowded board well enough to know which arrows can leave right now, and which ones are waiting for others to go first.
How to play Arrow Puzzle Club
Setting up the board
Each level opens on a full board of arrows laid out on a dotted grid. Some arrows are short and straight, others are long lines that wind around the board before ending in a head. Boards come in different shapes, from simple squares to outlines such as stars and houses, and each level is labelled with its difficulty. You start with three hearts.
How it works
- Every arrow is a single piece, a line of any length that ends in an arrowhead. The head is what matters: it shows the direction the arrow will travel.
- Tap an arrow to release it. It travels straight ahead from its head, in the direction the head points, and the rest of its body follows it out.
- An arrow can only leave if the straight line from its head to the edge of the board is completely clear of other arrows.
- If another arrow sits anywhere on that line, the tapped arrow is blocked and cannot escape. You need to clear the blocking arrow first.
- A tap on a blocked arrow costs you one of your three hearts, so it pays to check the path before you tap.
- Each arrow that escapes leaves its squares empty, which can open up a clear route for the arrows around it.
- If you are stuck, a hint highlights an arrow whose path is clear. Hints are limited, and the number left is shown on the hint button.
How to solve
You solve a level when every arrow has left the board. Clear the board before your hearts run out and you move on to the next level.
Solving tips
- Start at the edges. Arrows near the border whose heads point outward have the shortest path to clear, so they are usually the first ones free. Clearing them opens up the rows and columns behind them.
- Follow the head, not the body. A long arrow can wind across half the board, but only the straight line in front of its head decides whether it can leave. Find the head first, then trace that one line to the edge.
- Trace the whole line before you tap. A path can look clear near the arrowhead and still be blocked by an arrow right at the edge of the board. Checking all the way out is what saves your hearts.
- A free arrow stays free. Clearing an arrow only ever empties squares, it never fills them, so an arrow that can escape now will still be able to escape later. You never need to rush it, which means your attention is best spent avoiding blocked taps.
- Work backwards on dense boards. Pick an arrow you cannot release yet, find the arrow blocking it, then ask what is blocking that one. Following the chain back usually ends at an arrow you can tap right away.
- Save hints for the big boards. Early levels are small enough to read in full. Hints are most valuable on large, shaped boards, where one free arrow can be genuinely hard to spot.
About this puzzle
Arrow escape puzzles are a recent mobile format, but the idea underneath them is an old one.
Like the sliding-block family of puzzles, such as Rush Hour and Unblock, the challenge is pieces standing in each other's way, and the solution is the order you move them in.
The difference is that here a piece does not shuffle aside, it leaves the board for good.
In spirit that makes it a close cousin of pick-up sticks: you take pieces away one at a time, and the skill is seeing which one is truly free.
Every board is a chain of dependencies, with each arrow waiting on the arrows in its path, and solving it means untangling that chain from the outside in.
Frequently asked questions
Each arrow moves in the direction its head points. When you tap it, it slides straight ahead from the head to the edge of the board and its whole body follows it out. The shape of the body does not matter, only the line in front of the head.
A blocked arrow cannot escape, and the tap costs you a heart. You start each level with three, so if you are not sure an arrow's path is clear, trace it all the way to the edge before tapping.
A hint highlights an arrow that can escape right now, so you can make progress when you are stuck. Hints are limited, and the hint button shows how many you have left.
No. Removing an arrow only ever frees up space, so it can never block another arrow. Any arrow that is free now will still be free after other arrows leave. The only real mistake is tapping an arrow whose path is blocked.
Yes. Arrow Puzzle Club is free to download and play on Android from Google Play.
